Your hosts are retired educators who are actively involved in local, regional and provincial tourism organizations. Our twenty years of superb hospitality and service guarantee an enjoyable experience.
The goal of the cottage experience is good, old-fashioned Cape Breton hospitality where we welcome you to our property. We are traditional, not commercial. Our guests are family, not clients.
We emigrated from upstate New York in 1964, the year we bought the “wilderness” in Chimney Corner. The first five years were spent in Halifax where Jan taught high school English and Bob completed his university education at Dalhousie. Weekends and summer vacations were spent at Chimney Corner, clearing land and pounding nails, and finally, after a period of twenty years, in 1989, the house was finished and we became permanent residents at our little cove. The B&B and cottages commenced in 1992 and we have not looked back. The B&B portion of the business ceased operation in 2011 and our efforts are devoted to the cottages. The off-season is as busy as the summer, with choirs, quilting, knitting, construction, coaching, genealogy, local and provincial tourism committees, and winter catch-up reading. (VE1CYH)
